Try selecting a dat file, shift-right clicking it, then "open with". Select
whatever, then tick the "always use this" box. Works for me, except for
MS-Paint, which always makes itself the default regardless of that setting.
Which is annoying when I was building my web site and using PSP to convert
images.

I probably can find this out another way, but thought I'd try here to show that once in a while there's something I don't know. :-) I'm running NT 4.0, and it seems that I already registered the .dat extension with WordPad (although I don't quite (...) (26 years ago, 15-Oct-98, to lugnet.cad)
