All this talk lately about L3P and how easy it is to use finally convinced me
to check it out...  And WOW!

I gotta say, Lars Hassing has created a truly amazing piece of work!  The
download only took a few seconds, the install only a couple minutes, and to my
amazement (because software rarely performs this effortlessly out of the box)
within 10 minutes I had myself a genuine POV data file representing some chess
pieces modeled in LEdit.  L3P is so cool.  It just works.  I didn't even have
to adjust the default camera angle or light sources.  (I did tweak the colors
some, though.)

Anyway, now my computer has things to chew up spare CPU cycles with while I do
other things.  :)

Here are the chess pieces:

Anyone else made chess sets out of LEGO?  I'd love to see them!

Looks Great Todd!! and I like how you did those chess pieces! Yes I have to admit, L3P is a great prg! Lars did a good job on it! I like the fact that you don't have to have the piece in the .inc files to use pov with it, you can use all the parts (...) (25 years ago, 1-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

Very good, Todd. I'm glad you have found what POV can do for your models. It is a great way to show off what you've done. Roy (25 years ago, 1-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

(...) <snip> Isn't it a shock to download such a tiny program and have it do what it does so easily? If only all software were that simple. :-) -- Terry K -- BTW, cool chess sets. It sure will be nice when there are POV-Ray primitives for the cone (...) (25 years ago, 1-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

(...) not to toot my own horn, todd... but if you're diggin L3P, you GOTTA run it with my front end L3PAO.. once you DO decide to start tweaking camera angles, and even the color changes you've already started playing with, you'll find it much (...) (...) Took me a while to get everything working, but here's my rendered chess set: (URL) aren't spaces in the URL, they are _ characters.) You may notice I've gotten rid of the theme in my website to reduce it's size so I can put up more stuff. Rob (...) (25 years ago, 4-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

(...) Ok, I've fixed the problems with my chess set, including changing the pawns. A picture of the result (sitting on a wood tabletop) is now up on my page: (URL) also added a few new creations to my site too: (URL) Rob Farver - rfarver@rcn.com | | (...)
