I use 'All Purpose, PVC, CPVC, ABS' brand: Oatey from LOWES
hardware stores.

Can you please tell me/us more about your choice of glue,
(as it relates to LEGO of course) regarding ease of use,
fumes, strength, (amount needed) warping of bricks, etc.?

Tom mentioned MEK - I'm guessing that's another brand?

I need to glue some pieces together that normally fit by
friction, so there isn't really any excess space for the
glue like there would be gluing together some 2x4s.

For the curious - I'm joining Technic axles and connectors
in a StRuCture where the axle is under (end-to-end) tension,
potentially sufficient to separate the axle and connector.

When I worked at the LEGO Imagination Center, we used the 'Super Glue' brand
on Technic pieces.  I don't know how well it will stand up to the tension
though.  Put a small drop inside the connector, then push the axle in.  This
way any excess glue will be inside the connector instead of on the outside.
(One of the rules of glueing - try not to let any glue show from the outside!)

And, be sure not to glue your fingers together!  ;-)

MEK stands for methyl-ethyl-keytone (spelling?) - it's a solvent that fuses
the ABS plastic together.  Very nasty stuff to work with - you don't want to
be breathing it.  But for some reason, it doesn't work on technic axles, they
must be a different type of plastic.

I can't remember what the LEGO model builders use on Technic - if I do
remember, I'll be sure to post it.
