30+!!!!
I guess you'll be entering the 'brute force' category at PirateFest'00.
Are those all 'real' Pirate ships or did you make them up?
Or are you (sadly) counting all of your rowboats as Pirate 'ships'? If
so I have well over 1,000. Or so it seems.

I like that coinage, "PirateFest '00."

Didn't I cover this in "My fleet is bigger than yours" a while ago?  The
current fleet stands at:

4 Crossbone Clippers
3 Renegade Runners
6 Armada Flagships
3 Imperial Flagships
3 Caribbean Clippers
4 Redbeard Runners
1 Black Sea Barracuda (yeah!  Finally)
0 Skull's Eye Schooners (boo!)
1 Imperial Trading Post cutter
2 Sea Sepents (drafted from the Middle Ages)
2 Custom "brigs"
3 Custom "cutters"
(Customs are built on the six-wide bow piece similiar to the Trading Post
cutter)

8 wide size ships, 16 narrow hulled ships, and 8 pint-size coastal craft -
(VERY appropriate for the early raids of Drake and the like).  Several ships
have been modified (a three center section CC with a second full double-sailed
mast is currently in dry dock over the holidays).  Thank you for those two
brown center sections, Frank!  A ten-wide based on the hull front of the
Adventurer's Amazon river boat is also in the works. I've got bits and pieces
to cobble together another wide hulled ship.

That's OK.  I'll just bring one ship, if it fits in my car:

On the other hand, I'm not sure I need to actually bring it.  I can probably just
fire the HG from here in Jersey, and just bring the plane to spot for them.  "It
*is too* primitive, there's no radar!"  ;)

In all seriousness, though, I'd be up for a trip to VA to engage in piratical
endeavours--the only problem being that I don't exactly have a wealth of "proper"
pirate hulls (4 Armada Flagships and a Flying Time Vessel).  The closest thing I
have to a genuine pirate ship is a recent ironclad, the _Olympus_:

Yet even this ship is steam-driven, and has a primitive turret amidships--and
there just weren't many pirates around by then (c.1868).  On the other hand, I'm
sure shore bombardment with lyddite shells would be deadly to the horrible
wildlife of Snake Island (and probably any treasure too).  ;)

On the other hand, I just landed about a dozen 6-wide boat prows from trades and
6441 purchases.  I also have an absolute ton of mast sections, thanks to Todd and
AUCzilla LXXVIII or some other recent number.  I could probably produce something
less-than gorgeous, but acceptably buccaneerish.  Oooh, I'm also low on cannon,
with only a dozen or so.

I don't even want to think about rafts and rowboats...

I do, because I'll need them...but on second thought:

"Okay, your rowboat fires its cannon at the target.  The carriage recoils through
the bottom and back of your rowboat, which splinters into a million pieces.  The
blast effect alone bursts your sailors' eardrums and, dazed or unconscious, they
drown instantly.  Next ship?"

Maybe I ought to make a LEGO recreation of David Bushnell's little 1770s submarine
_Turtle_...guys, leave the copper sheathing at home, and no naming your ship
"Eagle."  Guys?  Guys?!?  ;)

best,

Lindsay
