Hi!
This is a periodic "call for information" regarding the dates of formation
of all LUGs, LTCs, MUGs, etc., around the world. I've been maintaining a
comprehensive list for the past couple of years...
http://news.lugnet.com/org/dates
which I'm thinking of putting into a database format, and I'd to get all
of the ?'s resolved into solid dates. If you are a founding member of any
of the following groups/clubs listed below, please take a few moments to
check your records against the date shown. Also, if your group/club is not
listed on the page shown above, please let me know!
Thanks!!!

Although I cannot assist on dates, as that was before my time, I can say
that the names of the Washington, D.C. clubs are different now, since at
least July of 2001.
Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area LEGO Users Group (WAMALUG)
Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area LEGO Train Club (WamaLTC)
The different orthography of the acronym for the LUG and the abbreviation
for the LTC is deliberate and official.

I think you should remove UKLUG, that entity really never existed, it was
just one of my stupid ideas :-)

That's the date of the constitution, I'm not sure the date it officially was
formed, I can't find it on www.brickish.org
People, do you think the North British LEGO Train Club (NBLTC) should be in
this list?

Still not a member of the Brickish Association (if only you lot accepted

Sound's about right, Simon. The idea and the catalyst came some months
before though.

YES - most certainly the first UK based LTC and probably the first example
of an official UK AFOL club (as opposed to website/group) with regular
meetings. It was started by Tony Priestman and myself at the end of 2001
with initial module planning etc. around January 2002.
The NBLTC is now effectively a Special Interest Group of the Brickish
Association although we do hold separate events/shows etc. as just about all
of the original members of NBLTC are now in the Brickish Association, it
saves duplicity of all that tedious admin! (I should know, I'm the Secretary!)

Come along to our AGM/Festival in Stoke-on-Trent in three weeks time
(26-04). You can join on the door for £5 (cash, cheque, Postal Order or 3
ton millstone) - more details at our website www.brickish.org - you'll have
to be quick to get one of the free Mini Tie Fighters though.
See you then.
