Subthemes for Star Wars renamed?

Hi,

I just noticed (while checking my webpage that links to the
pause pages) that the subthemes for the Star Wars sets were renamed
to "Episode I" and "Classic". While I find the new names far better
that "{Episode IV}" (especially for sorting purposes ;-) ) I wonder
whether those changes were announced somewhere.

I imagine that this change broke quite a few Hyperlinks...

Regards,
Hakan

Please tell me that I am not going delusional and this is in a foreign
language.  If this is in English I think I better stop looking at my computer
screen and go lay down for a bit.  No more tuna-artichoke shakes before dinner.

Kyle Henneberque

(By the way, is that Turkish?)

Heheh..:-)

Yes it's Turkish. Sorry for the feel of delusion. Finally I meet a Turk
here, and it was an excitement for me seeing that finally there is an
and to my representative job for the whole Turkish community here on
AFOL grounds..:-)

No, the changes weren't announced.  It's just one of many everyday cleanup or
maintenance efforts in the set DB.  (I'm even surprised anyone noticed.  :)

LEGO officially uses the term "Classic" for the original SW trilogy (Episodes
IV-VI, that is), so the old category names in the DB were wrong.  (And the
curly braces {} signified that we knew it was an unofficial categorization
but didn't yet know the official categorization.)

I think it's kinda unfortunate that LEGO chose to call Episodes IV-VI
"Classic" when Episode I gets its own whole designation.  At the very least
they coulda called it "Episodes IV-VI"...  Anyway...  Call me A/R.  :-)

I imagine that this change broke quite a few Hyperlinks...

Nah, only if someone had links to the old canned theme-search queries, which
looked frighteningly dubious and not very link-friendly before:

   http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?theme=LEGO,SYSTEM,Star+Wars,%7BEpisode+I%7D
   http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?theme=LEGO,SYSTEM,Star+Wars,%7BEpisode+IV%7D
   http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?theme=LEGO,SYSTEM,Star+Wars,%7BEpisode+V%7D
   http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?theme=LEGO,SYSTEM,Star+Wars,%7BEpisode+VI%7D

A side-effect of getting rid of the {}'s is that the new URLs for those DB
queries are slightly more human-friendly:

   http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?theme=LEGO,SYSTEM,Star+Wars,Episode+I
   http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?theme=LEGO,SYSTEM,Star+Wars,Classic

although I wouldn't say they're link-friendly just yet (more on that in a
couple days).

If someone had bookmarks on the old queries, I apologize for any inconveninece
caused by the renaming of the subcategories.

Nope, no bookmarks, I was creating the links in my perl script
(hey, doesn't everyone have a sets-to-html-script? ;-) ), so the
human-friendly part was a little lost on me ;-)

I've always thought of the trilogy stuff as 'Classic', that's what my S@H
catalogs call it.  Speaking of SW subthemes, what is the proper way of
classifiying these sets?

Basically, Star Wars can be classified three ways...

Theme: Space
Subtheme: Star Wars
Minithemes: Episode 1, Classic
You'll see this on www.adequete.com/lego/reviews  I don't agree with it at all.

Theme: Star Wars
Subthemes: Episode i, Classic
This is the logical way to classify SW, and probably the most common at the
moment.

Theme: Movies
Subthememes: Star Wars, Moviemaker set, upcoming Harry Potter sets
This is a new classification that I am proposing right now, does anyone think
it makes sense?  If LEGO does another movie in 2002, it will probalby be a
valid theme (or perhaps a subsystem?)
