David Lovelace
("Jot and Jab", "Parallax")

Favorite LEGO toys/themes: Anything Space-related, especially Classic Space.

My fascination with LEGO began... ...in 1980. My buddy had all the shiny blue and grey space sets set up in his room. I'd never seen clear yellow pieces. It was an assault on my senses, and I vowed I'd own them all one day, even though Lego was (and still is) expensive for any ten-year-old. I'd save for months just to get the 6929 Starfleet Voyager...

I once built... A fifty-pound spaceship about 200 studs long! I was fifteen. I tried lifting it, and it completely collapsed under its own weight! Lost more than a few pieces from that mess...

Someday I will build... An original new Classic Space set for LEGO.

LEGO is great because... It's as infinitely functional as it is aesthetically appealing.

LEGO fans are great because... They are all just as sick as me. :-) I thought I was the only one until I discovered Lugnet (and ebay) in 1998.

My favorite Non-LEGO Toys: Keyboards & synthesizers

My favorite Hobbies & Interests: Flash animation, cartooning, electronic music composition.

My favorite Foods: Lobster, lobster, lobster. And the blackety-blackest of beers.

My favorite Movies & TV: Apple TV & Netflix... I'll watch anything!

My favorite Artists: Miró, Jim Woodring, Xeth Feinberg (go see bulbo.com!), Louis Trondheim, Dali, Chris Ware, and my own bad self

My favorite Music: '80s music... I'm in an '80s band called Plastica

Words which best describe me: That cartoony guy

I wish I could... find another MISB 6970 Beta-1 Command Center for $20 at a flea market! That was my ultimate find!

I hope I never... Rip open any fingers trying to take apart two 2x2 plates. Aargh!!

I wish I hadn't... Taken such crummy pictures of this amazing robot I built in '85. It was made of 11 separate ships and was poseable...not that I could ever prove it. Think "4099 Robobots" on speed.

In my craziest moments... Check out gagmewithaspoon.com for the '80s band....

If I were super-human... I'd time travel back to the 70's and 80's, and get my hands on some MISB classic Legoland stuff!

More & Less:
  • more Lanes, less People
  • more Time, less Debt
  • more Pieces, less Juniorization

Rules I try to live by:
  1. Two hours, every day, for ME.
  2. One day or night, every week, for ME.
  3. Every other moment, for my girl. Awww.

Additional comments:

Now that I'm firmly established as a dork, here's something for the terribly bored enthusiast: once and for all, my uniform color theory for Spacemen rank, task, or role otherwise:

CLASSIC White: Technician/Driver/Slave Red: Pilot Yellow: Away Mission Specialist Blue: Lab Scientist Black: Theoretical Scientist, Mission Leader

FUTURON Red: Cosmic Laser Launch Commanders Yellow: Everything Blue: Everything Else Black: Mission Leader, Star Quest Pilot

BLACKTRON Black: Killy-kill for everyone!

M:TRON, UNITRON, UFO... Ahh, who can even tell with these guys.
