Favorite LEGO toys/themes: Classic trucks and cars, Technic, Space, Star Wars Themes, and one VW Beetle Sculpture (2008)

My fascination with LEGO began... I was indoctrinated with Lego at the tender age of three. My sister had an early '70s brickset and ofcourse I would demolish her walls with my cars. Anyhoo, got spoiled over the years with various steerable trucks. In the late '70s we emigrated to New Zealand and Lego didn't come there until the mid-'80s. However, my sister went for her OE to Holland and brought back a Space Lego Stratocruiser for my brother and a Moonbase for me. I bought my first Technic Lego set (854 gokart) from a cousin in the mid-'80s and later got the Set 8860 - Technic Lego car for my birthday. My fascination was juggled between Space Lego and Technic Lego for several years. I bought older sets from secondhand shops, incl. motor accessories. In 1998 I entered the realm of the internet, and early in 2006 I won the first Technic Lego (853) Car Chassis on eBay from a German site, making my 5 car chassis collection complete. Shortly after I also got a second 8860 set (I really like this particular chassis). I had attempted to get this set (853) much earlier, but the demand and competition was fierce. In 2004 I inherited a large quantity of Classic Lego from an aunty who knew about my long time obsession. I found I had enough pieces for an Ambulance, Fire Engine, Jeep, and a truck with semi-trailer - all from the late '60s.

I once built... A Citroen 2CV chassis from the old 8860 Technic car set. It had front wheel drive, the weird pushrod suspension and 2 working gears. I sent the photos to the 'Legokrant' in Holland, but they said the photos were too dark to use in their periodical. A few years later the big 8880 model came out. Using all the parts I had available in the 1980s I attempted to make an AT-AT Imperial Walker from Star Wars Empire Strikes Back. I even had little X-wing fighters. The AT-AT was made mostly of solid blue bricks and used the wheels and axle bricks to help make the thing walk. It was very unstable, but then it was supposed to crash just like in the movie, wasn't it?

Someday I will build... the biggest Space Lego monorail in my house from room to room. (No room at all at the moment)

LEGO is great because... imagination and innovation are endless.

LEGO fans are great because... there's a new fan born every minute.

Words which best describe me: Anorak

I love it when... people do what needs to done.

I hate it when... people are delusional

I can't seem to get enough... of collecting toys

I always seem to have enough... ideas

I hope I always... be good to others

I wish I could... do more

I could never... stop

I hope I never... be disillusioned

In my craziest moments... I'm in a world of my own

Believe it or not... if you mix all prime colors really fast you get white

If I were super-human... I'll leave that idea for another day

More & Less:
  • more LEGO!!!, less war

Rules I try to live by:
  1. What you say and what you do are two different things
  2. Do or do not. There is no try. (Yoda)
  3. obey all road rules, no matter how stupid they are.
