Doug Dropeskey
("Damraska")

Favorite LEGO toys/themes: I'm not really a fan of themes so much as interesting models and new minifigs. I like pirate ships and space fighters, spooky castles and heavy construction vehicles, forgotten islands and deep ocean submersibles--they all carry the same sense of adventure for me. Since I don't collect sets, I don't care if TLC keeps one particular theme alive. If a set contains parts and minifigs I can use for my own creations, I'll buy it, regardless of the theme. That being said, I like sets with lots of black, white, yellow, and transparent dark blue pieces. Aquaraiders, Blacktron II, Exploriens, ResQ, and Space Port all had these colors in abundance so they're my recent favorites. The perfect theme would blend parts in these colors with lots of new minifig faces (especially females) and special elements (especially creatures, equipment, and technic). It would not contain any composite pieces (i.e., POOPs and BURPs). This theme might include trains, spaceships, trucks, temples, or siege engines--it doesn't really matter.

My fascination with LEGO began... I received my first lego set, a gift from my German grandfather, for Christmas in 1973.

I once built... When I was about 9, I built a fully functional Space: 1999 Eagle complete with detachable head, tail, and mission module. It carried a crew of lego 'dog' people invented by my sister. It even incorporated primitive but functional landing gear and carried a moon buggy. Fifteen years later, when I started buying legos again, it was with the thought of building a realistic Eagle. I never actually began that project.

Someday I will build... Fantasy Siege Machines; Fantasy Spacecraft; Spaceport (my dream project)

LEGO is great because... Lego allows the user to rapidly prototype fantastic vehicles and structures with numerous working parts and I high degree of complexity. Unfortunately it does not allow for realistic representation of such things, which is why I build models too.

LEGO fans are great because... I've never actually met another lego fan in person, at least one that shared my level of interest.

My favorite Non-LEGO Toys: Lego is about the only toy I have left.

My favorite Hobbies & Interests: Model building, scuba diving, hiking, fantasy RPGs, drawing, flying

Words which best describe me: Nimble, curious, friendly, rational

Rules I try to live by:
  1. Do more good than harm
  2. Don't kill anything you do not have to
  3. Fight stupidity in all its forms
